The Additional Director-General of the CRPF, Zulfiqar Hasan said that additional troops were being deployed in Jammu and Kashmir as violence was likely to be on the rise.
This year, the number of pilgrims on the Amarnath Yatra had increased. There had been several attempts to disrupt them, he said.The presence of the security personnel had thwarted them, he added. Mr. S.P. Pani, the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir said that at least ten attempts had been made to carry out IED strikes in several parts of the Valley. At least seven modules had been busted by the security forces. Several terrorists had been arrested.
Although the number of terrorists had come down, there were numerous activities and hence troop deployment had increased.However, they have been receiving inputs about violence on the rise, and decided strengthen the grid on the ground.
