Indian cricketers will henceforth be subject to dope tests by the NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency) after being told by the Sports Ministry that it has no other option but to abide by the rule. After years of defiance, the BCCI has agreed to comply.

The BCCI had always vehemently desisted the move stating that Indian cricketers did not come under the confines of the NADA, and that the agency did not have the jurisdiction to conduct tests on it’s cricketers. Also it had said that it was an autonomous body and did not rely on the government for funds. The move was preceded by the World Anti- Doping Agency  telling the ICC (International Cricket Council) that the BCCI had to come under the NADA’s ambit so that there could be compliance.
