5 Arrested for Murder of Hindu Leader
The Lucknow police have arrested five people in connectrion with the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari, leader of a political party in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Three of the arrests were made in Gujarat after a joint operation by police of both states. The other two arrested were Muslim clerics from Bijnor district in western Uttar Pradesh. Two others said to have carried out the attack are still on the run.
Among the men arrested in Gujarat are Maulana Mohsin Sheikh, Rasheed Ahmed Pathan and Faizan. According to the police, Rasheed was the mastermind. A sweet box was found at the spot where the incident took place and several clues were found. The main reason for the killing was a defematory comment made by Kamlesh Tiwari about Prophet Mohammad in 2015.
Security footage found outside Tiwari's home showed two men and a woman carrying a bag containing sweets, that police believed were weapons. Kamlesh Tiwari was killed in his residence and he was found with his throat cut, and was shot multiple times. He died while being taken to hospital.
